Today was a good day to work on the body. As a Bigsby-style vibrato tailpiece was on the cards, the existing tailpiece bushing recesses had to be plugged. Here's where maple drumsticks come in handy. A little sawing, paring, sanding and wood glue, and we have a mighty fine plug.
Now we need a new location for the string ground. As the most suitable candidate would be the high E bridge bushing recess, I've drilled a small hole from this recess into the bridge humbucker cavity. The ground wire runs from the recess into the humbucker cavity, through the main cabling channel and into the control cavity. The free end of this wire will be soldered to the neck pickup volume pot casing.
On to the rest of the electronics, then. We've reused what we could, though the existing wiring needed to be thrashed. What we have now is something you'd find in a typical LP-style; toggle switch, volume and tone pots, tone caps and output jack. Oh yes, two new gold covered humbuckers and cream pickup rings were installed too. Have I left anything out? I think not, so that about covers it for this post, folks.
