Part Two: Work Done
For starters, components that could be reused were cleaned and polished. This included the tune-o-matic style bridge and stop bar tailpiece, tuners; and pickups. As for the rusty screws, well; they were all replaced.

Besides this, the pickup and control cavities were shielded with conductive shielding paint; and the control cavity cover with copper foil. The guitar was then completely rewired with new components: Alpha A500K pots, a Neutrik NYS229 output jack, generic toggle switch; and metal output jack plate.

Part One: Introduction
There is virtually no information online concerning this guitar. All I know is that Tagima is a Brazilian company. However, I do not think that this particular instrument was built in Brazil. Basically, this guitar is a PRS copy. It sports a double cutaway body, set-in neck, 22-fret bound fretboard, two humbuckers, a toggle switch, tune-o-matic bridge, stop bar tailpiece; and controls for master volume and tone.

As received, the Tagima was in unplayable condition. Dust, dirt, rust and grime was the order of the day. To make matters worse, someone had messed up the wiring and even disconnected the toggle switch. The owner's instructions were to get the guitar back in shape at minimal cost. Seriously, if I had a ringgit for every time I've heard that; I'd be a rich man.

Rescuing a Fender Jim Root Stratocaster®

The Fender Jim Root Stratocaster® [#US12076870] featured in this post was sent in because "it's not as loud as it was before." Turns out that the owner had no idea that the pickups were active; and had never replaced the 9V battery. Opening the battery compartment revealed extensive corrosion.

After removing the original battery and battery clip, the compartment was thoroughly cleaned. Following this, a new battery clip and 9V battery were installed. I'm pleased to report that this Fender Jim Root Stratocaster® now sounds as it should, and the owner knows when and how to replace the battery. Meanwhile, I believe it might be a good idea to share some of this guitar's specs, courtesy of Fender.
