The Fender Jim Root Stratocaster® [#US12076870] featured in this post was sent in because "it's not as loud as it was before." Turns out that the owner had no idea that the pickups were active; and had never replaced the 9V battery. Opening the battery compartment revealed extensive corrosion.
After removing the original battery and battery clip, the compartment was thoroughly cleaned. Following this, a new battery clip and 9V battery were installed. I'm pleased to report that this Fender Jim Root Stratocaster® now sounds as it should, and the owner knows when and how to replace the battery. Meanwhile, I believe it might be a good idea to share some of this guitar's specs, courtesy of Fender.
