Part 8
Work is Done
Having
installed the QS-5 preamp, I was able to move on to other matters. The first of these was fitting a new set of chrome-plated Washburn tuners. I'd planned on retaining the original gold-plated tuners but they were just too corroded to be reused, even after a thorough cleaning and polishing.
Shifting focus back to the bridge, new bridge pin holes were carefully drilled and reamed to fit the D'Addario PWPS12 bridge pins I'd ordered. After plugging in the under-saddle piezo pickup, the original saddle was reinstalled; and a new nut fitted. Yes, I did work on both the saddle and nut to allow for lower action.
The Congress BW-4151CB was then strung with D'Addario EZ890s, tuned to pitch; and put through its paces. As everything seemed to be in order, I contacted owner Enche' Nordin Jusoh and invited him to come try out his guitar. It's September 5 today, and Enche' Nordin dropped by less than an hour ago. You can tell by the smile on his face that he's a happy man. I am too, oh yes I am.
