The final coat of Minwax Antique Oil Finish has had enough time to cure, allowing me to safely remove the accumulated gunk in the fret slots with a fret slot cleaning saw. It's now time to cut the fretwire to length, nip the fret tangs, and install the frets.

Now that the new frets have been installed, I'll be going through the usual sequence of trimming and beveling the fret ends, fret leveling, recrowning the fret tops, abrading the frets; and final polishing. Granted, it's a tedious process, but there really is no other way.

With fretwork taken care of, we're into the final stretch. The original nut has been retained, but the saddle actually snapped in two while I was polishing it. It's just one of those things, and you have to be prepared for the unexpected. So, I'm pleased to say that this acoustic now has a new synthetic bone saddle. Here's the Techno NY40CM, strung with D'Addario EZ890s. String height at the 12th fret is 3/32" on the bass side, and 2/32" on the treble side.
