Hardware

Hardware on this JCraft JB-1 is generally vintage-style and chrome-plated, save for non-metallic components. Starting at the headstock, we have two round string retainers, five "clover leaf" open gear tuners, and a 5/32" truss rod adjustment socket. Above the truss rod channel is a white polyphenylene sulfide [PPS] nut that is 45.16mm wide. The poplar body features a four-bolt neck plate, three-ply black/white/black 10-screw pickguard, J-style control plate, black J-style control knobs with white indicator lines, and classic Fender-style strap buttons.

Perhaps the most interesting piece of hardware on this JB-1 is the steel bridge with slotted barrel saddles. As installed on this bass, it functions as a top loader. However, closer inspection reveals that this bridge has been pre-drilled for string-through-body loading. This means that the owner can quite easily drill five new holes through the body, install string ferrules; and successfully convert this bridge into a string-through. Wouldn't that be nice? Well then, I believe that about covers it as far as hardware is concerned.
