This bass is in the shop for a full refret. All the old frets have been carefully removed from the rosewood fretboard.
In this short clip, I am using a Radius Sanding Block [9.5"] and sandpaper to ensure that before installing new frets:
(i) the fretboard is level throughout its length,
(ii) any dings or low spots have been eliminated, and
(iii) the fretboard has a consistent radius of 9.5" throughout its length.
This procedure is known as "prepping" the fretboard, and is a critical initial step towards achieving a fret job your customers will love. Video Credit: Norisah Siran.
