So this guy asked me to mate a Yamaha EG112C neck with an OLP MM1 body, and I said yes. The headstock, well he wanted a more "stratty" look. So I went to work, using an ST54 Strat as a template. But nope, he was not satisfied. Now he asked for another headstock profile, that of a certain high-end builder who shall not be named. After some Photoshopping, I realized that the dimensions didn't match exactly; but it was doable.
Basically, this job involved modding the headstock profile, plugging the old neck screw holes, drilling new ones, reprofiling the neck heel, a Tru-Oil refinish on the back of the neck and headstock, fretboard reconditioning, neck angle tweaking (read:shim); and final setup with a set of 10s.
Hardware replaced included the cruddy volume knob, all screws and springs, machine heads, plus the bridge plate and tremolo block. Electronics work included grounded carbon-paint shielding and a full rewire. I also put in a new Alpha A500K pot, three-way toggle switch; and NYS229 mono jack socket.
