I almost didn't want to spill the beans on this one. Resepi Tradisi Sukma@Warung Sukma has been drawing hungry crowds since 2008. Run by local slapmeister/saxophonist Damir Idris@Achoy and his beloved missus, it's become one of the favorite haunts of local musicians.
Food and drinks are very reasonably priced. You have the usual breakfast menu, plus specials like mee/meehoon/kwaytoew soup and curry. For lunch, there's Nasi Ayam Black Pepper, and best of all, three varieties of Asam Pedas: Pari (stingray), Kerisi (fish) and Kambing (mutton). Shah's Travel Diary rates the Asam Pedas Kambing served at Resepi Tradisi Sukma as being "even more delicious" than the much-touted Melaka Asam Pedas.
If Asam Pedas isn't your thing, you can always give the Sup Daging or Sup Kambing a try. These soups are absolutely lip-smacking when paired with white rice, salted egg and Achoy's signature Sambal Belacan. In the afternoon, deep-fried munchies such as Cucur Udang are available, and from 5:00 pm; western-style delights such as grilled chicken, chicken/lamb chop, beef steak, and meatballs. Take my word for it, the home-made coleslaw, sauces and thick-cut fries accompanying these dishes are to die for.
Last but not least, from noon onwards, delicious cooked-to-order "masakan panas" is available if you'd like to try something different.
