River Blues Band - LIBRA Meet & Greet Jamming Sessions

Date: 4th December 2018
Time: 8:30 pm - 11 pm
Venue: The Bee @ Publika, Kuala Lumpur

The press was invited to this event, which was touted as a sneak preview of the bands that would be performing in Langkawi for LIBRA Vol.2 (29th - 31st December 2018). As it turned out, not all of these bands were able to make it. However, the bands and musicians who did made sure that the audience had a night to remember. Amongst those who graced the stage that night were Nan Blues, Tok Ghani, Halfway Crooks (Singapore), Voltage feat. Anis Kalisa on guitar, Sons of Adam, Zizi Blues, Karen Nunis Blackstone, Lord & The Boys, and River Blues Band. River Blues Band thanks the LIBRA organizers, most notably Dato' Ito; and the Bee Publika management for graciously inviting us to this event. Personally, I'd like to thank my best girls Nadia and Charmaine, as well as childhood buddies Steve Lopez and Looi Kok Kheong; for turning up to support River Blues.

November 29 2015 - River Blues Band at the White Horse Tavern

Although the River Blues Band wasn't even featured on the poster, that did not stop them from giving the audience everything they had during their hour-long set at the White Horse Tavern in Amp Walk Mall, Ampang. This time around, RB featured slapmeister Zack on bass and vocals. As such, the lineup for this gig was Shafie (guitar/vocals), AA (guitar/vocals), Along (guitar), Zack (bass/vocals) and Fendi (drums). River Blues performed some of their favorite covers, which included songs by Joe Bonamassa, SRV, Gary Moore and Robben Ford. For the encore, Zack kindly obliged to entertain all present with a raw and ballsy version of Skynyrd's "Call me the Breeze." Heck, the guy can sing!

Meanwhile, headliners Purple Haze, Sons of Adam, Public Voice and Aznan Aziz aka Nan Blues wowed the audience with an exciting selection of classic rock and blues numbers, all delivered with pure guts and conviction. After all the bands had concluded their sets, it was time for an open jam session that lasted late into the night. All too soon, it was time for RB to pack up their gear and head back to Kuantan.

Many thanks to Sons of Adam Entertainment (esp. Abg Lan) and the White Horse Tavern management for giving River Blues the opportunity to perform in Kuala Lumpur. River Blues also deeply appreciates the tireless efforts of Jack Firdaus (SUK bass player), Basri and Dyda, who were at the White Horse not only to give them much-needed support, but also play the role of crew. Love you guys!
