Garrison G25 Headstock Repair | Part One

Introduction

This lovely Garrison G25 Acoustic Guitar was in the shop for a headstock repair. Other than that, it was in near perfect condition. As such, I do believe it would be a shame if we didn't talk a little about the G25 and admire some pics first. Rest assured that the actual headstock repair will be discussed in Part Two. References for this post include Wikipedia and the 2004 Garrison Salesperson Resource.

Birth and Demise of Garrison Guitars
Garrison Guitars was one of the largest acoustic guitar manufacturers in Canada. In 1993, 18-year-old Chris Griffiths started "Griffiths Guitar Works" in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada. By 1999, Griffiths Guitar Works had evolved into "Garrison Guitars." Eventually, Gibson Guitar Corporation acquired Garrison Guitars in 2007; only to shut down the company three years later.

The Griffiths Active Bracing System™ [GABS™] was a method of guitar construction that integrated the binding, kerfing, bridge plate and all the braces into a single glass fiber component, the top being activated by having "all parts vibrate in unison." GABS™ was also claimed to provide "enhanced structural stability."
