Squier California Series Strat HSS

This red Squier California Series Strat features two single coils (neck / middle) and a humbucker (bridge). It came in for setup, servicing, and a set of 009s. I have to say that although this is an entry-level guitar, the fretwork is OK (no jagged ends), all five switch positions yield usable "stratty" tones; and the bridge humbucker simply sings when distorted. Not bad at all :)

  2. Thanks for dropping by. As far as I know, all Squier California Series guitars and basses are made in China, regardless of serial number. And if yours has a "Super Music" sticker, it was manufactured by Super Music Co. Ltd. of Shanghai, China. Hope this helps.

  7. Thanks for your query. Take off the neck. Examine the neck pocket. If the wood there is pale with no distinct grain pattern, it's probably basswood. If its darker with a noticeable grain pattern, then its most probably agathis. Hope this helps, and congratulations on owning a fine guitar.

  8. Greeting Mr. Aziz, I thanks for this review, really helpfull. For maybe 7 days, I was searching about Squier Strat California Series because I bought one of that series in Local Music Store, first I want an Affinity/Bullet but I dont like them, so I bought California. When I search about my California Series, surpriesly it's not available on the Squier website. I tought it's a fake Squier, but in my research I found this guitar is made only for Asian market. My question, is that true that SQUIER STRAT CALIFORNIA SERIES is an original Squier?. And why the guitar is not in the Squier website?. I'm from Indonesia, sorry if my English so bad, I am 20th YO. I am a art teacher in Elementary School.

  9. You're most welcome, Umar. California Series Squiers are made in China and sold only in the far east, which includes Malaysia & Indonesia. As they are not offered for sale in the US, they do not appear on the Squier website. As to whether the CS Squiers are "original," it is anyone's guess, especially if there is no serial number. The Squiers I have serviced or repaired all conform to Fender specs, albeit using cheaper woods, pickups and hardware. Do not be too worried about this. If your CS plays well, be happy with it. You can always upgrade the pickups, electronics and hardware, and fully shield the guitar when you have the budget. That's what I did with my black CS Squier. I hope my reply has answered most of your questions. have a nice day, and keep on rockin' :)

    1. I'm happy Fender responded to your queries. That was good of them. Also glad you were able to upgrade your California Tele. I'm sure it sounds killer now.

  14. I just aquired a Squire strat with the serial number 0070654739, but it does not have the California series sticker on it. This guitar was never played as it looks mint. It has the original receipt with it from 2008. I am curious as to where it was made.
